Fish Finder Installation Checklist

fish finder on boatInstallation of the fish finder requires little technical help to fix it at the right place. The fish finder gps combo device works better when it is placed correctly on the boat. The transducer which resides at the back of your boat on the hull needed proper installation.

It is going to emit the SONAR radio waves under the water. If the alignment of the transducer is not perfectly done, then it will not produce the data on the screen. The most transducer is required to put into the water in a way that the half bottom part of the transducer must go under the water and remaining half part will stay above the water.

When it is activated, the bottom parts generate the radio waves which goes in the water at the specific angle. The angle of emitting the radio wave should be straight to the bottom. It should bounce back from the bottom of the sea or water and come back to the transducer to collect the data.

If the radio waves are not coming back and collected to the transducer, then the data will not be recorded. You will not get an accurate reading on your display.

Here is the Fish finder installation checklist

In fish finder equipment installing the transducer is the most important part of the process. So to install it perfectly you require some tools. You will be drilling the holes in the transom located at the back of your boat. To drill the hole, you will require drilling machine.

If possible get the small plastic block to fix above the transom so you will get the proper installation of the transducer. The transducer will be fixed on the plastic block which will give them plenty of space to the transducer to move easily in the water. Some anglers require the plastic block to fix the transom.

The best thing about using the plastic block is whenever you upgrade the transducer with the new one you do not need to drill the holes again. You can simply mount the transducer on the plastic block.

You will be required Sealant to fix the certain equipment such as a plastic block on the back of your hull. You can get any regular Sealant from the market. There is no need for special Sealant for the job.

The Silicone sealant, 3M 5200 adhesive, or any other sealant will do the job. Choose whichever is readily available in the market.

The equipment will require you to connect both transducer and display with the long wires. The wires will reside around your boat. So find the right place to fix the wire. Keep it in the place where it will not bother you while fishing.

The position of the wires will depend on the type of boat you have. The main unit will be placed on the dashboard of your boat. In many cases, the equipment that you purchase from the market will not have long wires so you might require to purchase it separately from the local stores.

When placing the wires on the boat, you can clamp it with some sort of tubing.
